Daughters of the King is a Christian girls choir based in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne. They were founded in 2006. Daughters of the King consists of 2 choirs - their Main choir and a Chamber choir.
Main Choir
The main choir is an unauditioned choir made up of girls aged 10 and up. This choir is where the majority of musical training occurs with regular sight singing and tutorial groups in addition to whole choir rehearsals. In this choir, choristers learn the fundamentals of singing as well as reading music. The training of this choir is based on the Kodaly method.
Chamber Choir (founded 2017)
The chamber choir is an auditioned choir made up of girls aged 13 and up. These girls tend to be more musically experienced (having had several years involvement in the main choir), and sing more challenging music. This choir also provides opportunites for leadership for the choristers, with many of them being involved in the DOTK Student Leadership program (founded 2017) and the DOTK Student Conductor program (founded 2019).
